Use Personalized Photos To Update Your Social Game

It all started with an idea and little motivation.

One day I decided to schedule a photo shoot to update my personal photo collection (yes, I really needed new Facebook & LinkedIn profile pictures), so I strategized and came up with a plan.

The idea sparked when a good friend posted a photo to his Instagram.

This was a picture from one of our last photo shoots in the summer of 2015 that he recently shared on Instagram on Earth Day. He has used these photo assets many times across his social channels. I reached out to him and said, “Hey Chiedu, how about another photo shoot? He instantly accepted and said, “Name the location, day and time.”

The key to obtaining great content is to get organized and map out your schedule.

The Plan

  • Locations:
    • The Columbus skyline view at Genoa Park on the banks of the Scioto River next to COSI
    • The Ohio State University Campus at the Thompson library
  • Date:
    • Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. sharp
  • 2-3 Outfits:
    • Casual & Professional
  • Objectives:
    • Generate new content for personal social platforms
    • Obtain more interaction across channels by having higher quality content

We arrived on location at noon and began snapping away.

Amazing day to take a photo 🙂

Once I arrived home following the photoshoot, I loaded the pictures from my SD card onto my external hard drive. Now I have hundreds of photos in my library and plenty of pictures to share. I accomplished my goal of generating social content that can be distributed across my various social accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and LinkedIn). So far, my new photos have outperformed all of my old content in the few posts I made following the photoshoot!

If you are a business and feel like your content is getting stale, put the pen to the paper and start mapping out a day for a photo shoot (or contact The Media Captain and we can help). By taking a couple of hundred photos in an ideal location for your company, your website and social channels can be drastically improved. Whether you are a small company or a large business, professional photos will legitimize your brand. Unique content, including memorable imagery, is the foundation of our website development and social strategy. Hopefully we can help your business improve its look and feel in the near future!
