How to Generate Over 500 Social Shares on a Blog Post

No one can argue with the fact that social media is a part of the daily culture and lives that we live in today. You are most likely glued to your Smartphone checking the Facebook newsfeed, your Twitter timeline or new connections on Linkedin. If you are trying to promote your brand through social media nowadays, the landscape is becoming ultra competitive.

Don’t be ashamed if you made a witty Facebook post or wrote a compelling blog article and got no “likes” or retweets while trying to promote the content.  You can’t shoot 100% all of the time. I’m going to provide a tip on how you can achieve ultimate social exposure and stand out amongst the competition.

Step one is finding your niche. If you are in the construction industry, post articles on current projects, upload photos of developments in progress and share helpful information and tips for your followers. If you are creating compelling content on a consistent basis, interaction will occur.

To take your social game to the next level though, start reaching out the movers and shakers in your field. If you find a construction website that has an enormous social following, reach out to a contact there and ask if you can contribute content to their website. You’d be surprised how open Webmasters are to new content creators.

I recently reached out to Jeff Bullas, someone I look up to in the social media landscape. Jeff was named by Forbes as “One of the Top 50 Social Media Power Influencers of 2013.” Since social media is one of The Media Captain’s specialties, after reviewing some of my work, Jeff’s team approved that I could contribute content to his website!

The most recent article I wrote on his site has over 500 social shares within 24 hours and is already appearing high in the search engines! There is unlimited opportunity if you find a niche and create compelling content… So what are you waiting for?
